Consecration of Your Sacred Space

As a magus you will want a special place to perform your rituals. It is often hard to find space in our apartment style homes for a proper sacred space. If you are lucky enough to have a spare room in your house, by all means, set it up as your magick room. Have a blast with it!

Most of us do not have the option of turning an entire room into a sacred space for our magickal workings. We can, however, dedicate a portion of our bedrooms or living room's to our magickal work.

You will want to set your sacred space as a safe place within your home where it is safe to burn candles. You might also wish to find an outdoor sacred space which can be used for outdoor rites. In all likelihood you will want a space within your own home.

You first will want to dedicate your sacred space by taking your besom and cleaning the area up. Cleanse the space thrice. Cleanse it physically, emotionally, and spiritually. You might next like to sprinkle the area with some water and salt. You may next burn the appropriate incense... jasmine or frankincense are good choices... This shall further cleanse the atmosphere. Next make the room as welcoming as you possibly can. You wish to make it as appealing as possible to whatever Gods, Goddesses, or spirits might be visiting you within your space.

It is good to dedicate a special piece of furniture as a magickal workspace. This is great for those of us who have to travel quite frequently. You might even just have a special piece of wood or a tray dedicated as your sacred space. You can keep everything you need together in a small box or suitcase.

A cloth to cover your altar is also a good thing to have. You might wish to have different cloths of different colours and styles for different magickal goals or special holidays.
