To me this is not truly what Satanism is about, and, in defining itself as a religion, it naturally embraces the spiritual. The pentagram itself is a visual reminder of our commitment to our spiritual lives here on earth.

The containment of the goat's head in the pentagram is the unity of two seperate ideas of what Satanism actually is.
We Satanists do revel in life. We are creatures bound on earth making it a heaven for ourselves. The downward pointing star is a reflection of our desire to bring the spiritual into the present and make good use of it. There truly is no real journey beyond the moment, as the moment is what we live in. There is no sense of waiting for heaven or seeking enlightenment. We can accept ourselves as enlightened today. We can believe that we are already in heaven. Waiting for a Messiah or saviour is one of the stupidest spiritual notions I have ever heard of. Yet, it is the most popular one in our society. Every person is a prophet or Messiah in their own sense. The content we put into their words is the message. It is really a two way street and as much up to us as it is up to any teacher that we gain wisdom and reward.
Two students may listen to the same speech, but they almost always get a different message out of it. This is well how it should be as we are each our own rich individualistic selves and two good ideas are always better than people sharing the same good idea and repeating it.
The pentagram opens itself up to the sky. It draws in the power of the heavens. The heavens, a beautiful mystery of distance and stars. It is no wonder many religions have associated the sky with the spiritual realm.
As earth bound creatures we draw this beauty into our worlds and focus it into a sharp point. Down here on earth we take all that is off the world, heavens, spirtual, and natural into ourselves and try to manifest it in our lives. This can be through taking direct action, which is always better than none action, or through magick. Even the art of appreciating all that the heavens offer is bringing our heaven down here on earth. We do not need to wait. We have it all right now.
How do artists paint? They term themselves an artist who is capable of painting, and then they paint. A sculptor must already think of a piece of clay as being something in order to manifest it. We must realize that the floor will become clean before we mop it.
