Athame
A ceremonial knife and is not used for cutting herbs. It is used to indicate directional points when calling the quarters. It should be of a pure metal, The handle is generally black and can be carved with different signs and symbols. It is thought that the best and most powerful athame is one which has been inherited.
Besom
A witch's broom. It is usually handcrafted specifically for the witch from the tree of her choice. It is often kept for cleansing the sacred circle.
Boline
A knife used for cutting herbs and other ingredients in a magickal working. It is a practical tool. Usually it would have a white handle and a curved blade. It should be consecrated to it's purpose.
Burine
A sharp tool used to inscribe candles and other objects with words, images and pictures. These are to make spells more potent.

Candles make up such a huge part of magick that books are devoted to different techniques of candle magick. They can represent the element of fire and also light.

A quill or other high quality pen can be set aside as special for use in magick. It can be consecrated by passing it over the top of a candle or through the smoke of an incense. An ink can also be consecrated specifically for magickal purposes.
Pentacle
A shallow bowl used to consecrate objects. It can be inscribed with a pentagram or any other symbol special to the magickian.

Scrying Tools
There are many objects which can be used as scrying tools, including crystals, mirrors, runes, tarot cards, etc. They should be consecrated before use and are used for divination purposes.
Staff
Popular with those following a Druidic path. It is much like a wand, except longer. It should be fashioned from the wood of a sacred tree, such as oak, hawthorn or hazelnut.
Wand
No longer than the forearm, it should be made of sacred wood. It is a personal object and should be attuned to the energies of the magickian.
